The Noble Rhino
This was the closest we came to a rhinoceros. He is quite a sight.
The rhinoceros has been driven almost to extinction by poachers after their horns. There are now less than 50 of these animals in the country. The park rangers have round-the-clock coverage on the few rhinos that remain, and they shoot to kill vehicles out after dark. It is a real possibility that the rhino will be extinct within my lifetime.
I was very glad to be able to see a couple of them while they are still around.
